Synopsys is globally recognised for EDA and engineering software. Simpleware focuses on 3D image processing and model generation for CAD/CAE and 3D printing, used across medical, biomechanics, NDT, and industrial applications. To unify the UI and support demanding analysis workflows, Simpleware partnered with Creative Freedom to craft a cohesive, scalable SVG icon library.
Every icon is designed to perform at multiple sizes and pixel densities, with clear metaphors suited to segmentation, meshing, geometry clean-up, and export. Using our Icon Manager platform, we streamlined collaboration, reviews, and delivery over multiple batches, ideal for complex, long-running engineering icon design projects.
Designing for Scale and Clarity
The goal was to modernise and standardise iconography across a sophisticated engineering platform used by expert users. We defined a robust grid, stroke logic, and interaction principles to ensure rapid recognition for repeated tasks, from segmentation and measurement to model export and validation.
Icons were authored as SVG for crisp rendering and compact delivery, with production PNGs provided where required. The result is a dependable icon language that scales across desktop and web deployments, integrates cleanly with development pipelines, and improves software icon usability in high-stakes environments.
